Ulli and a porcupine

Ulli went for a nice run on the Great Western trail. The sky was beautiful, it was a nice warm fall day. The colors were brilliant.
There was a porcupine sharing the trail with us.

I hope Ulli's feeling better.

(I have had the luck of not having a dog encounter a skunk or porcupine yet).

That looked pretty nasty!

Ouch! A porcupine did that?? Did it attack the poor pooch? My dogs have had a few encouters with porcupines. I'm not sure who came off worse. The dogs always came out with a faceful of quills though. :-(

holy molyJL what happened? Did Ulli try to jump past the porky catching the leg? Or was Ulli circling the porky?

I read your post on my blog and am not surprised to hear about the quills migrating. Its kind of eery not knowing if one is going to fester inside :(

Like dogsled_Stacie, all mine have gotten a face full of quills. Ganik had one surface a week ago in his snout after an attack in Feb. I too worry about the migration but might not have too if the skull is a good barrier for keeping them out.

Best wishes for Ulli.

Ulli can be a pretty friendly dog. I have images of him coming up to the dog-sized porcupine and turning arround to the porcupine as if he is expecting the snif-my-butt greeting from the critter. :)

We heard about Uli's encounter with the porky defense response! Glad to see Uli is on the mend!
